Incomplete tells the story of a man sharing a love letter about longing for someone he has never met. It explores the sense of loneliness, and poses a question: do we need another person in life to feel complete or are we missing a connection with ourselves?
DIRECTOR”S STATEMENT
'Incomplete' is a cry for deliverance from loneliness. Having long lived with a chronic and, at times, paralyzing sense of solitude, I eventually came to confront these feelings by translating them into a film. I had danced professionally for two decades, so putting movement at the heart of 'Incomplete' felt like a natural way to explore the yearning for connection, which here is framed as a love letter to someone I’ve never met.
When, in 2018, my co-writer Peter Wortmann and I started to work on the script, I wanted to focus on the sense of isolation and loneliness within the LGBTQIA+ community. But these issues are universal and while filming in 2022, I strongly felt the echoes of all the sadly lost connections we experienced during the COVID-19 worldwide lockdown.
